Does the ping paddle have to be in your hand when you hit it in order for you to get the point?
February 25th, 2009 | by admin |When I play ping pong, I have the natural tendency of tossing my paddle when shots are just out of my reach. It happens when someone hits a shot short, and I'm standing back away from the table. I toss the paddle parallel to the table, and usually make contact with the ball before it hits the table. It rarely goes over the net, though, and even if it does, my opponent just has to return the ball to win the point since i dont have my paddle anymore. There have been a few rare times where I've "won" the point this way, though. Is this legal?
Yes it does have to be in your hand. You are allowed to swap the paddle between hands during the rally, but must have hold of it to win the point.
